1. Tell us about your experience putting together your portfolio for the AL-CIP?

Putting together my portfolio was straightforward; I followed the instructions provided and included the required explanations for each piece of evidence within each domain.

2. Can you provide tips for writing a successful rationale?

My tips for writing a successful rationale would be to take the time to read what is required in advance and then consider everything that falls within the applicable period. Then clearly articulate what your reasoning for the activity was, and the impact that it had on elevating the infection prevention and control in either the community, facilities, or any other public health sector.

3. What advice would you give to someone considering the AL-CIP?

I would first review the requirements and ensure they are met. If so, I would complete the application and portfolio to recognize their accomplishments in leadership as an infection preventionist.

4. What does earning your AL-CIP mean to you?

Earning my AL-CIP enhances the credibility of my clients regarding my commitment to not only gaining my certification in infection prevention and control, but also my dedication to being a leader in the field. It sets me apart from the many and validates the CBIC's recognition of my continued efforts to be a leader in elevating the profession of infection prevention.
