1. Tell us about your experience putting together your portfolio for the AL-CIP?

Putting my portfolio together felt very personal. It made me pause and reflect on my journey in infection prevention—the challenges, the growth and the moments where I truly made an impact. It wasn’t just about collecting evidence, it was about telling my story as a practitioner and as a leader in the field.

2. Can you provide tips for writing a successful rationale?

Be honest and specific. Talk about what you actually did, how you led, and what changed because of your work. The more real and clear your examples are, the stronger your rationale will be.

3. What advice would you give to someone considering the AL-CIP?

Start early and choose work you’re proud of. Focus on showing your leadership and your impact—not just your tasks. And trust your experience, it matters more than you think.

4. What does earning your AL-CIP mean to you?

It means a lot to me. It reflects years of dedication, growth and commitment to doing better for patients and teams. It’s not just a certification—it’s a reminder of the responsibility I carry and the impact I want to keep making.
