1. Tell us about your experience putting together your portfolio for the AL-CIP?

It was a deeply reflective process that allowed me to look back on how my work has influenced infection prevention and control practice. I took time to carefully craft my narrative, choosing words that clearly communicated my contributions and impact. The preparation required organization and attention to detail, from compiling evidence to reviewing and refining my portfolio before submission. I also ensured everything was properly stored and backed up, which gave me confidence as the deadline approached. Familiarizing myself with the submission process was equally valuable, helping me approach it with clarity and readiness.

3. What advice would you give to someone considering the AL-CIP?

Pursuing the Advanced Leadership Certification in Infection Prevention (AL-CIP) is one of the best decisions you can make for your professional growth. It offers a valuable opportunity to pause and reflect on your journey and contributions to the field of infection prevention. The process of developing your portfolio is deeply fulfilling, it allows you to recognize how far you’ve come and the impact you’ve made, even before receiving the final results.

4. What does earning your AL-CIP mean to you?

Earning this certification provides not only professional validation but also a renewed sense of purpose and confidence in advancing the infection prevention profession.
