1. Tell us about your experience putting together your portfolio for the AL-CIP?
At first, I felt overwhelmed and struggled to determine where to begin. Once I identified the evidence I wanted to use for each section and aligned it with the requirements, the process became much more manageable. Having a clear plan helped me stay organized and confidently move through the portfolio.
2. Can you provide tips for writing a successful rationale?
I found the templates extremely helpful for organizing my thoughts and responses. They provided a clear structure and helped me focus on connecting my evidence to the certification requirements. Be specific, use concrete examples, and clearly explain your role and contributions.
3. What advice would you give to someone considering the AL-CIP?
Start early and take time to review the work you've accomplished throughout your career. You may already have more qualifying evidence than you realize. Don't wait until the last minute. Give yourself time to reflect on your experiences, gather supporting documentation, and thoughtfully develop your portfolio.
4. What does earning your AL-CIP mean to you?
I have dedicated a significant portion of my professional career to Infection Prevention, and earning the AL-CIP was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on that journey. It allowed me to recognize not only my own professional growth but also the progress my organization has made over the years. I am proud of the role I have played in supporting those advancements and improving patient safety.
