CBIC Executive Director Travels to Egypt | March 10, 2023

In February 2023, I had the opportunity to travel to Egypt on a personal vacation. A trip that was postponed several years due to Covid-19 was finally happening. Before my trip, I reached out to APIC Chapter 200- Egypt to see if a meeting was possible while I was in town. I was greeted warmly by the APIC Egypt Chapter/Egyptian Society of Infection Control (ESIC) to attend the ESIC Scientific Board meeting on February 15, 2023. I had the pleasure of meeting the following board members during my visit:

Walaa Abd El-Latif, MD
Lamie Fouad, MD
Walaa Khater, MD

The Egyptian Society of Infection Control (ESIC) was founded 30 years ago, and their motto is Educate, Support, Implement, and Create. During our meeting we discussed collaboration opportunities and the importance of CIC certification. After our meeting, I had my first experience with Egyptian food at a beautiful lunch along the Nile. I want to thank the ESIC for their hospitality and generosity during our time together. This was an amazing opportunity to connect with leaders in the field of infection prevention and control that support APIC’s and CBIC’s mission and vision. I look forward to our continued collaboration!
