I chose infection control because I believe in patient safety starts with prevention. Preventing infections not only saves lives but also improves healthcare quality and reduces costs. I’m passionate about creating safer healthcare environment for patients, staff and visitors.
2. What advice would you give someone who is interested in an infection prevention and control career?
I would advise them to build strong clinical knowledge, develop analytical skills, and understand guidelines and evidence-based practice. Infection Prevention requires attention to detail, leadership skills and the ability to educate and influence healthcare workers positively.
3. What does being a CIC® mean to you?
Being CIC certified represents professional excellence and commitment to the highest standards in infection prevention. It validates my knowledge, expertise, and dedication to continuous improvement in patient safety.
4. What was the best studying method for you when preparing for the initial certification examination?
The best method for me was structured study planning, reviewing the CBIC content outline, solving practice questions regularly and linking theory to real life clinical scenarios. Consistency and understanding concepts -npt memorization -was key.
5. What advice would you give someone pursuing certification?
Start early, follow the official content outline, practice mock exam and focus on understanding surveillance, epidemiology, sterilization and transmission-based precautions. Stay disciplined and confident.
6. How do you stay up-to-date on infection prevention and control practices?
I stay updated by reviewing international guidelines (CDC, WHO), attending webinars, participating in professional forums and continuously reviewing, current literature and evidence-based updates.
7. How has the CIC® helped you grow professionally and in your career?
The CIC enhanced my credibility, leadership confidence, and decision-making skills. It opened doors for professional recognition and strengthened my role as strategic leader in infection prevention within my organization.
