I chose infection prevention and control because I believe it is one of the most impactful fields in healthcare. Preventing infections means protecting patients, healthcare workers, and the community. It allows me to combine clinical knowledge with leadership, education, and patient safety.

Start by building a strong foundation in basic infection control principles. Stay curious, follow trusted guidelines like CDC and APIC, and always connect theory with real practice. Never stop learning.

Being a CIC® represents commitment, credibility, and excellence. It shows that I meet international standards and that I am dedicated to improving patient safety and infection prevention practices
4. What was the best studying method for you when preparing for the initial certification examination?
My best strategy was combining reading with practice questions. I used the APIC Text as my main reference and focused on understanding concepts rather than memorizing. Practicing questions helped me identify gaps and improve quickly.
5. What advice would you give someone pursuing certification?
Be consistent and disciplined. Break your study plan into small goals, practice regularly, and don’t be discouraged by difficult questions. Understanding is more important than memorization.

I stay updated by following CDC, APIC, and WHO guidelines, attending webinars, and applying updated practices in my daily work.
