1. Why did you choose a career in infection prevention and control?
It allows me to make a broader impact on patient safety. By preventing healthcare-associated infections through surveillance, education, I can help protect patients, healthcare workers, and visitors while improving the overall quality of caren.
2. What advice would you give someone who is interested in an infection prevention and control career?
Stay updated with current guidelines and develop good communication and teamwork skills. Infection prevention requires continuous learning.
3. What does being a CIC® mean to you?
It reflects ongoing professional development. The CIC designation isn’t just earned once and forgotten; it’s tied to continuous learning and staying current with regulations, products, and industry changes.
4. What was the best studying method for you when preparing for the initial certification examination?
It's the experience itself during the initial stages of working as an infection control professional. Later, APIC guides, YouTube channels & CDC play a key role in polishing the knowledge with updated guidelines
5. What advice would you give someone pursuing certification?
Establish your foundation in infection control. Use your experience and your knowledge to guide you in answering questions. Do not rush; spend time analyzing the questions.
6. How do you stay up-to-date on infection prevention and control practices?
By frequently reading guidelines and standards and attending seminars, webinars and national conferences.
7. How has the CIC® helped you grow professionally and in your career?
By doing this, staff members, volunteers, Patients, and even family members aware about policies and procedures and evidence-practices to prevent the spread of infection. Obtaining my CIC gave me a boost in self-confidence to lead the Infection Prevention and Control program in my workplace.
