Joseph Tannous, MHRM, CIC, AL-CIP

Joseph Tannous is an accomplished Infection Control Consultant with more than 19 years of progressive experience in infection prevention and control across a broad range of healthcare settings. He holds a Master’s degree in Hospital Risk Management and has been certified by the CBIC since 2010.

Joseph has made significant contributions to the advancement of infection prevention standards at the global level. His long-standing involvement with CBIC began as an item writer and reviewer, where he played an integral role in the development, validation, and continuous enhancement of certification examination content. He was among the first cohort to earn the Advanced Leadership Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (AL-CIP), reflecting his recognized leadership, strategic perspective, and subject-matter expertise.

Throughout his career, Joseph has led the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive infection prevention and control programs across Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates, including the successful commissioning of new healthcare facilities. His international impact includes serving as an advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) and as a member of the WHO Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines Development Group. In this role, he participated in critical field missions assessing Ebola preparedness and response capacities in multiple countries.
 

In addition, Joseph collaborates with the St. Jude Global Infectious Diseases Program in Memphis, USA, supporting global initiatives aimed at strengthening infection prevention practices and advancing patient safety worldwide.
 

Currently, Joseph serves as an Infection Control Consultant with Emirates Health Services, a network comprising 17 hospitals and over 100 primary healthcare centers. He is also an active member of the UAE National Infection Control Committee, where he continues to influence policy development and best practices at both national and international levels.

He enjoys traveling, particularly with his family, and draws his greatest inspiration from his daughters, Cerena and Anna, who remain at the center of his purpose and motivation.
