Test Committee 2022

Applications for the 2022 Test Committee are now closed.

The Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. is currently seeking applications for non-Board members to fill open positions on the Test Committee. This is a 3-year term that begins January 1, 2022 and ends December 31, 2024.To be considered for the Test Committee, you must be currently certified (CIC®), and have successfully taken both the proctored initial certification examination and the online recertification examination (formerly known as the SARE) at some point during your certification. The ideal candidate will be a driven individual and only those currently board certified (CIC®) may apply. Interested individuals should complete the online application and submit their CV/resume.

 

The deadline for receipt of the form and resume or CV is October 8, 2021.

 

Responsibilities Overview

  • The Test Committee directs and coordinates, in conjunction with the testing company, all activities related to the development of the proctored initial certification examination and the online recertification examination. Our testing company is Prometric (www.prometric.com).
  • Participate in an one-hour online Test Committee Orientation Webinar in early 2022.
  • Be available to meet at least one (1) and up to two (2) times per year for examination item writing or item review; additional meetings may be scheduled as determined by the Chair. Meetings of the Test Committee typically occur over weekends, with travel required on a Thursday and meeting on Friday and Saturday. Meetings usually include two full days of at least 8 hours of work per day. If there is travel, expenses are covered by CBIC. If meetings are remote, access to both the internet and a computer are necessary.
  • Participate in initial examination form review, revision and review of items, new item development, and/or proofing of examination forms. This translates to an average of about 4 hours of volunteer work per month, in addition to meeting times. Some years and some months have a heavier workload than others.

  • Provide references in support of the use of each item (i.e. for the correct response and the incorrect response alternatives) as well as source references.

  • Work closely with Test Development staff and Psychometricians.

  • Position requires skills in grammar, editing, and communications with internal and external customers.

  • Use technology appropriately and efficiently to carry out tasks.

  • Travel 1-2 times per year with additional conference calls and/or web conferences. Meetings of the Test Committee typically occur over weekends, with travel required on a Thursday and meeting on Friday and Saturday. Meetings include two full days of at least 8 hours of work per day. Travel expenses are covered by CBIC, including flights, food, and lodging. CBIC does not reimburse of alcohol purchases during your trip.

  • In some cases, workshops may be conducted remotely. Remotes meetings would be conducted in half days over a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Access to a computer and a stable internet connection is required.

  • Some experience in large-scale educational measurement, especially item development, strongly preferred.

  • Stay abreast of industry changes.

  • Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with committee members.

  • Analyze item statistics to evaluate examination item performance.

  • Demonstrate strong editing skills.

  • Stay abreast of industry changes.

  • Ensure the items are free of errors.

  • Work closely with Test Development staff and Psychometricians.
