1. Tell us about your experience putting together your portfolio for the AL-CIP?
Putting together my portfolio for the AL-CIP was a very rewarding experience. It allowed me to reflect on all of the different projects and initiatives that I have accomplished over my career. It also gave me the chance to appreciate how far I have come on my leadership journey and that I have truly made a difference.
2. Can you provide tips for writing a successful rationale?
When I sat down to put together my portfolio, I started by creating a spreadsheet where I listed all of the projects and initiatives that I have done over the years. Then I created another spreadsheet listing all of the categories and requirements for the AL-CIP. Finally, I plugged in my accomplishments from the first spreadsheet into the categories on the second spreadsheet. After that, it was just a matter of writing out what I did for my accomplishments.
3. What advice would you give to someone considering the AL-CIP?
If you are considering applying for the AL-CIP and you meet the requirements, I would say "Go for it!" It is a lot of work to put it all together, but it is so rewarding to acknowledge everything that you have accomplished so far in your career.
4. What does earning your AL-CIP mean to you?
Earning my AL-CIP means so much to me. I have spent over 20 years working to improve patient safety and advancing the field of Infection Prevention. I strive to help develop new infection preventionists to continue the mission and further enhance the field of Infection Prevention.
