For aspiring professionals in infection prevention and control, my advice would be to pursue relevant education and training, stay informed about emerging infectious diseases,and actively engage in continuous learning to adapt to the evolving landscape of public health.

3. What does being a CIC® mean to you?

Attaining the CIC® designation holds personal significance as it represents my proficiency, ongoing dedication, and adherence to best practices in infection prevention and control, emphasizing my role in maintaining a safe and healthy healthcare environment.

4. How has being a CIC® helped you navigate the current COVID‐19 climate?

Being a CIC® has proven invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing me with a solid foundation in infection prevention principles and the agility to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, ultimately enhancing my ability to contribute to effective response and mitigation efforts.

In preparing for the initial certification examination, I found a multifaceted approach most effective, incorporating resources provided by APIC. Additionally, active participation in group discussions with fellow candidates and mentors not only facilitated a deeper understanding of complex topics but also provided valuable insights from diverse perspectives, contributing significantly to my success in the certification process.

My advice for someone pursuing certification is to develop a structured study plan, utilize reputable resources such as those offered by relevant organizations like APIC, engage in group discussions to reinforce understanding through diverse perspectives, and consistently practice with sample questions to build confidence and proficiency in the subject matter.

To stay abreast of infection prevention and control practices, I prioritize continuous learning through memberships in professional organizations like APIC, regularly participating in workshops, attending relevant conferences, and engaging in collaborative discussions with peers, fostering a dynamic and evolving understanding of best practices in the field.
